Report: Orlando Magic interested in Grant Hill as president of basketball operations

The Orlando Magic made headlines on Thursday after they decided to fire general manager Rob Hennigan after five seasons. Many believed that the Magic had a team that should make the playoffs, but it became very obvious that a change needed to be made. But before the Magic start looking for a new general manager, it looks like they will fill another position first. The president of basketball operations is the role that will most likely be filled first and the Magic have their eyes on a former player. According to Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, the Magic are interested in Grant Hill as president of basketball operations.

Sources tell the Orlando Sentinel that Magic officials had interest in former NBA All-Star and former Magic player Grant Hill to work as president of basketball operations. But ESPN reported that Hill has no interest in the job. Joining the Magic would require Hill to divest his small ownership stake in the Atlanta Hawks.

I thought the Magic were headed in the right direction, especially after the free agent signing they made in the offseason. But then they traded Victor Oladipo to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Serge Ibaka, even though they had just signed Bismack Biyombo. To make matters worse, then ended up trade Ibaka a few months later which was probably the final nail in the coffin for Hennigan. It will be interesting to see what the Magic do this offseason and if they can right the ship.
