After difficult season, Carmelo Anthony says it will be hard to trust Phil Jackson going forward

The 2016-17 NBA season didn’t go exactly like the New York Knicks thought it would. After acquiring Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah in the offseason, many thought the Knicks would be in the playoffs. Well that didn’t happen and now many are watching to see what the future holds for forward Carmelo Anthony. I think Anthony see the writing on the wall but he just doesn’t know when it will happen. But even if the Knicks decide to keep Anthony for another year, he has made it clear that it will be hard to trust team president Phil Jackson.

“If somebody was talking bad about you indirectly at your job, what would you do? You would feel a certain way,” Anthony said. “You would want that person to come straightforward with you. And I feel the same way. I’m always open. I’m a very honest person. I know the business and I know the game and I know how it works. So if it’s something that you want to get across, a message that you want to get across, I’ve always been open.”

I think both sides want to go their seprate ways but Anthony still has all of the leverage. With his no trade clause, Anthony isn’t going to let the Knicks to just send him anywhere. I think that once the playoffs are over, there will be a team that feels like Anthony is the missing piece to put them over the top. But regardless, this marriage between Anthony and the Knicks needs to end this offseason.
