The Jacksonville Jaguars are undergoing some new changes on and off the field now that former head coach Tom Coughlin is basically the team president. Coughlin is looking to change the culture in Jacksonville, which I think is something this team needs. But one of his main tasks this offseason has to be wide receiver Allen Robinson’s contract. Robinson is the best offensive player on the team and has made it known that he wants to be paid like one. Robinson told reporters that he believes he has earned a contract extension from the Jaguars.
“The most frustrating part of [last] year was that I was an improved player coming in,” Robinson said. “I was a better route runner, I thought I was creating more separation. Even though the outcome wasn’t there, I knew that. … Now it’s coming in as an even more improved player and having that strain. We have to do it every day and every game.
“If we get something done, we do and if not, I have a big year coming ahead for me and I have an obligation to my teammates to play at a high level,” Robinson said.
If you are Coughlin, giving Robinson an extension should be a no brainer. He has been the Jaguars best player for the past few seasons, so it’s time for them to show him their appreciation.
