Report: Brandon Jennings nowhere close to being cleared to practice

Pi-Pistons-Brandon-Jennings-010215.vresize.1200.675.high.86Many are very interested to see how the Detroit Pistons plan to use point guard Brandon Jennings this season. The Pistons gave point guard Reggie Jackson a big contract this off-season and plan to run with him into the future. That leaves Jennings possibly becoming the team’s sixth man or just a role player. But before the Pistons start to think about what to do with Jennings, they need him to get healthy first. According to David Aldridge of NBA.com, Jennings is nowhere close to¬†being cleared to practice.

Jennings is “not close” to being cleared, according to a source. He is currently shooting and running on a treadmill at 60 percent of his body weight, but the Pistons need to be able to see him run, cut and shoot off of one leg before he’s cleared to even begin non-contact drills on court.

The Pistons have the talent to make the playoffs this season especially if Jennings buys into his role once he is healthy. But he will garner a lot of attention from other teams and the Pistons could trade him to make their team better.
