Pat Riley on 2015 Miami Heat: “I think this team has all of the elements of a championship team”

download (64)After taking a huge step back after losing LeBron James, the Miami Heat had one of the best off-season in the NBA. The Heat locked up Goran Dragic and drafted Duke forward Justise Winslow in the first round in the 2015 NBA Draft. You always have Hassan Whiteside, who emerged during last season as a constant double-double guy. But this team will only go as far as Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh take them. Team president Pat Riley is very intrigued by this team and seems certain qualities in them. Riley was on the Dan Le Batard show and said that he believes that this year’s Heat has all of the elements of a championship team.

“I think this team has all of the elements of a championship team,” he said. “Whether or not you can ever win a championship will depend on a number of factors. I can list them and you can list them. It’s going to come down to this, health,… performance and this guy and that guy. It’s going to come down to can you make shots?…

“I think this team has the opportunity and the possibilities of being a contender. That’s where you start with a team like this. We have an opportunity to create a new first. That’s how I feel about this team…. I’m excited about this season.”

In my opinion, Bosh is the most important player on the Heat’s roster. If he can bounce back from serious health issue from last season, the Heat will be the main competition to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
