Report: Pacers and Mavericks to discuss sign and trade between Monta Ellis and Roy Hibbert if Mavs don’t sign DeAndre Jordan

7522666The Indiana Pacers have made it known to everyone that they plan to play faster this upcoming season. A good first step in that direction was signing former Dallas Mavericks guard Monta Ellis for $45 million over four years. As for the Mavericks, they are still chasing Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan in free agency. Signing Jordan is very important, especially since Tyson Chandler has signed with the Phoenix Suns. Even if the Mavericks miss out on Jordan, they have a backup plan in place. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Pacers and the Mavericks will discuss a sign and trade for Ellis and center Roy Hibbert.

I think it’s very clear that the Pacers don’t want Hibbert anymore, which makes sense due to the philosophy change. If the Mavs get Jordan, I think Hibbert will still be shopped around for a trade.
