Report: Emmanuel Mudiay was happy the Knicks passed on him in the NBA Draft

One of those players who stood out was Denver Nuggets first round pick Emmanuel Mudiay. Throughout the draft process, Mudiay was linked to the New York Knicks and he even told the media that he would love to play there. But now that we are a month away from the draft, the truth is starting to come out. According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Mudiay was happy that the Knicks passed on him in the NBA Draft.

Nuggets rookie point guard Emmanuel Mudiay told confidants after the draft he was, in retrospect, happy the Knicks passed on him at No. 4, as he was unsure he would have been a good fit for the triangle. Despite public comments to the contrary that he felt team president Phil Jackson could “make me a star,’’ Mudiay said he felt he was a better match in a more freewheeling Denver offense, according to sources.

Mudiay has thrived in the Nuggets fast paced offense during the Summer League, so I understand where he is coming from. With the NBA turning into a point guard league, Phil Jackson and the Knicks have to make sure point guards feel like that will be in control when playing in the triangle.
