Mike Krzyzewski throws shade at Phil Jackson regarding the triangle offense

download (37)As many of you already know, New York Knicks president Phil Jackson is considered one of the best coaches in NBA history. He is also considered a offensive genius due to the triangle offense he ran with the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers. Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski is also considered one of the best coaches as well and had a different prospective of Jackson triangle offense. During an article with the New York Times, Krzyzewski threw some shade at Jackson and the triangle offense.

“The triangle didn’t win crap!” he said sternly. “Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant! Whatever offense I run, that offense didn’t do it. Winning means you had the caliber of players capable of winning a championship.”

Then he seemed to want to soothe the situation. “I have nothing against the triangle,” he said. “I think it’s a great offense. But it’s a lot better if Jordan loves it or Kobe loves it.”

I have heard this same statement plenty of times when discussing Jackson legacy with others, but this is the first time that someone with the reputation of Krzyzewski speaking out on this. I wonder if Jackson will have something to say about these comments made by Krzyzewski.
