Jose Abreu on Robin Ventura: “If the people want someone to blame, it’s the players, not Robin”

Robin+Ventura+Jose+Abreu+cDbtK16ooWSmThe Chicago White Sox season isn’t going how many thought it would go. The White Sox lost their fifth game in a row Sunday night and are dead last in the AL central. With the team playing so poorly, manager Robin Ventura has started to feel the heat from the fans. The complaints have gotten so loud that first basemen Jose Abreu had to speak out to show support for his manager. Abreu says if people want someone to blame, they should blame the players.

“We cannot blame Robin for the situation of the team,” Abreu said through a team interpreter Sunday morning. “It’s our fault because we are the ones who are playing. We are the people who are in the field.

“If the people want someone to blame, it’s the players, not Robin. He’s doing what he can do, but the results aren’t there.”

Abreu is right that it is the players fault, but we all know that’s not how this works. It’s still early so the White Sox have time to turn things around.
