Report: Tennessee’s Von Pearson a suspect in an alleged rape investigation

pearson_1429914721673_17278585_ver1.0_640_480Tennessee head coach Butch Jones has to be frustrated with all the trouble some of his players have been getting in. Jones has dismissed two player already for felony theft charges, one recently this month. Now it looks like one of the Volunteers top returning WRs could be on his way out as well. According to The Knoxville News Sentinel, Von Pearson is a suspect in an alleged rape investigation.

The incident occurred between 3-4 a.m. Friday at University Walk Apartments, 2308 Forest Ave., according to a two-page KPD report.

The 19-year-old accuser, also a UT student, identified Pearson as her attacker, but no criminal charges had been filed as of late Friday, according to KPD Deputy Chief Gary Holliday.

UT Police Department officers met the accuser at 4:30 a.m. at the John C. Hodges Library on campus, where she claimed to have been raped, according to a UTPD report. The woman was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for evaluation, where KPD Investigator Colin McLeod met her about 6 a.m., according to the KPD report.

Tennessee has put out a statement saying Pearson is suspended from the team until this is resolved. I don’t want to criticize Pearson yet because he hasn’t been charged with anything, but this not a good look for the Volunteers program.
