Blake Bortles: “My arm kind of deteriorated during the season”

images (3)Jacksonville Jaguars fans are expecting their team to show some improvement this upcoming season. If the Jags are going to show improvement this year, QB Blake Bortles has to play better than he did during his rookie season. Bortles was supposed to sit out last season, but had to play due to how terrible Chad Henne was playing. The former first round pick knows he needs to improve, but also feels his arm is stronger than last year.

“My arm kind of deteriorated during the season,” he said on Tuesday afternoon as he and most of his teammates reported for the beginning of the voluntary offseason conditioning program. “It didn’t affect anything. It was just, I think, a product of throwing for two years straight without any break.

“Took some time off, let it heal, and then went kind of [to seek] out some proper mechanics on how to make it never hurt again.”

Bortles had the worst QBR in the NFL last year and was counted on heavily to make plans with his arm and feet. We will see if the time off has help Bortles this upcoming season,
