The Milwaukee Bucks have reached out to Ray Allen

Ray allenMost people believe that when free agent Ray Allen decides to join a team this season, the team will be in contention for a NBA title. I think that everyone considers the Cleveland Cavaliers to be the front-runner for Allen’s services but that hasn’t stopped other playoff contenders from reaching out to Allen.

But there is one team that has reached out to Allen that has surprised everyone. That team is the Milwaukee Bucks.

Six teams have actually contacted his reps since he became an unrestricted free agent — the Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder and …. the Milwaukee Bucks. Yes, the latter is not a mistake. Allen spent the first six-plus seasons of his career in Milwaukee, and the franchise’s pitch was a chance to end things where they began. Creative and worth a shot? Yes. Did it work? No. The Wizards are still hopeful, but suffice to say the Cavs are the front-runners as GM David Griffin has been in contact as recently as a few days ago, CSNwashington.com can confirm. Still, nothing.

I guess you never know until you try, so I applaud the Bucks for trying to get in the mix for Allen. But I think the Bucks are too young and too far away from contending for Allen to sign there.
