Arizona Cardinals DB Patrick Peterson and DT Darnell Dockett are very high on the potential of the Cardinals this season. Both players can be considered the face of the Cardinals defense. While everyone is talking about the Seahawks and the 49ers, both men believe their team is right there as well.
As a matter of fact, both believe that the NFC West is theirs for the taking.
“We gave San Fran two games last year. Gave them two games last year,” Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson told USA TODAY Sports after practice Monday.
“Came out slow and played Seattle slow in the first game, and we still ended up climbing back in the game to the fourth quarter and we kind of tucked our tail again. We went up to Seattle (and won). And lord knows we gave the Rams the first game we played them.”
Dockett responded in a way that only he could.
“Technically, we were beating Seattle’s ass here,” defensive tackle Darnell Dockett told USA TODAY Sports. “They won the game, but you mean physically? San Francisco, physically? We dogged San Fran (in Week 6). They won the game in the fourth quarter. We turned the ball over and they ran the ball in.
“They won the game, don’t get me wrong. We can’t take that from them. But it was never like, ‘Oh, they’re going to just kill ’em when they come up there.'”
It seems like the confidence of the Cardinals is sky-high right now. I can’t wait to see how the NFC West plays out.
