Former Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe is still upset with the NFL. Kluwe wasn’t happy with the three game suspension of Vikings special teams coach Mike Priefer.
Kluwe told Fox Twins Cities that he thought Priefer should’ve been suspended for more than three games. Kluwe also thinks that the NFL has its priorities in the wrong place and believes the league favors wife beaters, drunk drivers, over gay rights supporters.
“The NFL is a league where you can get redemption for killing someone, for beating your wife in an elevator, for driving drunk, for a whole variety of things but when you speak out for civil rights, that’s the one thing you cannot get redeemed for,” Kluwe added.
“Players who get caught smoking weed or DUI get 4 games, and you’re telling me the guy who made a comment like ‘let’s round up all the gays put them on an island nuke it till it glows’ — he’s only going to get a slap on the wrist?” Kluwe said in a phone interview.
I can understand Kluwe’s frustration but he is going about it the wrong way. Bringing up things that other players have done like Ray Rice’s situation is going to make it hard for him to return to a NFL locker room.
