At 35 years old, Miami Heat forward Shane Battier is prepping for life after basketball. Battier has already agreed to be a college basketball analyst once he retires. Many people around the NBA also think that Battier has the potential to be a head coach or a general manager. But one thing that Battier probably never thought about was getting into politics.
Well according to Zack Lowe of Grantland, Battier was asked if he would be interested in running for US Senate.
“Battier is nearing retirement now, and he can no longer shoot, dribble, or defend like he once did. The Michigan Democratic Party recently called him to see if he might consider running to replace U.S. Senator Carl Levin, Battier said. He declined”
Battier is from Michigan and is very respected in his home state. Battier doesn’t strike me as a politician, but sometimes you just never know.
