“Beats By Dre” headphones are by far the most popular electronic headphones on the market right now. You see everyone, including athletes wearing the headphones before and after games. Beats by Dre also made a very nice commercial dedicated to the World Cup which features a lot of celebrities. The funny thing is that FIFA is not recognizing this because they have a licensing deal with Sony. So because of that, FIFA has told players that the Beats By Dre headphones are banned during the World Cup.

“Banned from the pitch by FIFA for licensing reasons, the bulky Beats headphones are a favorite for many of the world’s top players, making the World Cup a huge unofficial ad for the company acquired by Apple Inc last month.”

“But soccer world governing body FIFA’s licensing agreement with rival electronics maker Sony Corp means players have to take them off when they are in World Cup stadiums for official matches and media events.”

Sony also sent every player some of their headphones but judging what I have seen during the matches, no one is wearing them. I wonder if FIFA is going to step in and make sure that players don’t wear them at events.
