Jim Brown calls the Browns’ decision to trade Trent Richardson ‘a brilliant move’

trent-richardsonJim Brown has made his opinion on former Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson quiet clear. Shortly before the Browns drafted Richardson #3 overall in the 2011 draft, Brown was adamant that he was not onboard with the Browns picking Richardson, mainly because he believed that Richardson was just “ordinary”.

Brown then attempted to clarify his comments and in doing so, he still wanted everyone to know that he hadn’t seen “anything special” about Richardson.

A year later Brown admitted that his comments were a motivational ploy and that he’d seen “flashes of greatness” from Richardson. But those so called “flashes of greatness” didn’t stop Brown from applauding the Browns for shipping Richardson off to Indianapolis for a first round draft pick.

In an appearance on Showtime’s Inside the NFL, Brown admits he was stunned by the news initially, but once he thought about it more, he loved it.

“I was surprised,” Brown said of the trade. “But then I thought it was a brilliant move … Because first of all, Trent [Richardson] couldn’t have carried the kind of load that Cleveland needed.”

Now that the greatest Cleveland Brown ever has giving his approval of the trade, maybe Browns can get past the shock of it all.
