A cranky Bud Selig joined the John Feinstein show on Wednesday to discuss a few things and refuse to discuss others. Of course, on the list of things he chose not to discuss is the appealed suspension of Alex Rodriguez. Which would have been a quote gold mine seeing as though how cranky he was during the interview.
Instead, Selig decided to first unleash his crankiness on the prospects of the Oakland’s A’s hosting a playoff game in a stadium that he affectionately call “a pit”.
“It’s a pit,” Selig said. “It reminds me of old County Stadium and Shea Stadium. We need to deal with that. I’ve had a committee working on it for two or three years, and there’s no question we’re going to have to solve that problem.”
The Athletics, by virtue of winning the AL West, will host postseason games at its “pit.”
“I’m not happy about it,” Selig said. “It’s an unfortunate mess. I wish there was an easy solution, but in truth, there is not an easy solution.”
Once he was done ripping up Oakland’s stadium, Feinstein then teed Selig up to rip Rays fans for not showing up to support a team that has the playoffs three out of the last five years.
“That’s just disgraceful,” Selig said. “I don’t know how much blunter I can be than that.”
We all get it. The Rays attendance is terrible. But cranky Bud Selig can’t tell people how to spend their money Florida is a college football state which is something cranky Bud Selig should’ve taken into account before putting a team in Tampa.
