Before you get all bent out of shape, the Falcons aren’t using these GPS tracking devices to track their players off the field. At least not yet. They are using these devices to track the movement of their players on the field. And they’re not the only team doing so.
According to the AJC, at least seven other NFL teams are using GPS tracking devices to monitor their players. Not only do these devices track movements, they also monitor how hard each player is working. Something that has already paid dividends for the Falcons during training camp.
The information from the device likely led the Falcons to pulling wide receiver Julio Jones out of practice against the Bengals on Monday.
Falcons coach Mike Smith said Jones’ was reduced to limited status for precautionary reasons.
