Oh, you thought that bring in new GM would change the culture in J-E-T-S land? Well, you were mistaken because just a week into training camp, an unnamed player has already ran his mouth to the media about how Geno Smith can “do more” that Mark Sanchez.
According to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York, this unnamed veteran believes that even after a week of camp where the team isn’t even tackling one another yet, it’s clear that Smith is outplaying Sanchez.
“He can do more” than Sanchez, one veteran said Wednesday, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
Of course, Rex Ryan is downplaying the comments from this unnamed veteran as well as any indication of who may be leading in the competition.
“Everybody gets enamored with the guy who throws a 96 mph fastball,” Ryan said of Smith. To be politically correct, Ryan quickly added, “But Mark certainly has a good enough arm to play in this league.”
So all in all, it looks like the Jets are already in midseason form. Which means, this should be a rather entertaining season for those of us that are not Jets fans.
