With everything going on in the world of baseball, everyone wants to hear what Pete Rose thinks of all of this. Because while players continue to get slaps on the wrist for taking PEDs, Rose remains banned from baseball for betting on the game.
So how does Rose feel about this fact? Well, he believes that if he had done PEDs, had an alcohol problem, or beat his wife, he wouldn’t be in the predicament he’s in right now. Instead, he chose to bet on baseball and all he can do is watch as others get second and third chances.
“You have to understand, I don’t call these guys to do shows, they call me. And of course with all this steroid talk and the 12 guys being suspended and A-Rod appealing , they want my input because I’m suspended for life. Hey, everything is a different case. I made mistakes. I can’t whine about it. I’m the one that messed up and I’m paying the consequences. However, if I am given a second chance, I won’t need a third chance. And to be honest with you, I picked the wrong vice. I should have picked alcohol. I should have picked drugs or I should have picked up beating up my wife or girlfriend because if you do those three, you get a second chance. They haven’t given too many gamblers a second chances in the world of baseball,” Rose said in an interview with 93.7 The Fan’s John Phillip.
Pete Rose broke the rules, got caught, and has had to deal with the consequences. But he definitely has a point about picking the wrong vice.
Now let’s be clear; Alex Rodriguez is going to have a tough time getting into the Hall of Fame. But unlike Rose, he won’t be completely banned from the game. So what can we surmise from that fact? Betting on baseball is worse than cheating your way to big numbers?
