While we wait for MLB the announcement that may or may not happen today regarding the suspensions for players linked to Biogenesis, here’s a rather interesting tidbit regarding Alex Rodriguez’s possible plan of attack.
So where is A-Rod going with that approach? Well apparently, he may be readying an argument that because of the Yankees’ mishandling of his injuries, he had to turn to “alternative” ways to get healthy.
Since the 38-year-old Rodriguez will appeal, the Yankees will have no choice but to activate him for Monday night’s game against the White Sox. They are obliged to play him if he says he is healthy (he is coming off more than six months of rehab from hip surgery in January), even as sources close to him have indicated that he may accuse the Yankees in his appeal of mishandling his injuries, forcing him to turn to other alternatives to stay on the field. He is also said to be considering suing the Yankees’ doctors for misdiagnosing his injuries beginning in 2009.
All along, I’ve maintained that things will get ugly between MLB and A-Rod. Now we can add the potential of things getting ugly between the Yankees and A-Rod.
