Kevin Ware knows he has a long road ahead of him, but vows comeback

wareLouisville’s Kevin Ware suffered a gruesome injury during Sunday’s Elite Eight win over Duke. An injury so gruesome that we can’t even bring ourselves to watch replays of it.

In the past 48 hours, Ware has been pictured with Louisville’s Regional Title trophy (photo to the left), had surgery, and is said to be up moving around on crutches. The only thing left is to hear how Ware is handling the injury and where his head is at the moment.

Ware gave those answers in a phone conversation with the NY Daily News earlier today and as expected, Ware is optimistic about his future.

“This is a minor setback for a major comeback,” Ware said. “I have to have the right approach to it. They told me things are gonna be good for me. This is not a lifetime injury where I can never play basketball again.

“But getting to where I want to be and where I need to be is gonna take some time.”

Ware is only a sophomore and he could redshirt next season since most believe it will take a full year before he can play again. But unfortunately, the elephant in the room is will Louisville keep him on scholarship not knowing if he’ll ever play again?
