As we wait to get answers as to what happened during Boston Marathon, the sports world (and everyone else) is attempting to move on. But with moving on comes the reality that almost every major sporting event will now have a much bigger security presence. At least in the short term.
A prime example is the NFL releasing a statement today that there will be “enhanced security” at the NFL draft in New York.
“The NFL and its clubs have operated with a very high level of security since 9/11 for all of our games and events. For next week’s NFL draft, we will review and enhance our already comprehensive security plans with the NYPD, Radio City and our private security partners. We will advise the public more specifically next week prior to the draft,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in a statement.
It’s a shame it has to be this way, but that’s the world we live in now.
