This region seems to be the most wide open region in tournament. By our count, there are as many as five teams that have a legitimate chance to win the region.

We’ll walk you through it all.

The team that is primed to pull off the round of 64 upset: Iowa St.

Here’s what Notre Dame is up against when they take on Iowa St. on Friday. The Cyclones are 4th in the nation in scoring at 79 points a game, they’ve attempted the most three-pointers in the nation, and just about everyone on the floor will shoot from just about anywhere.

Yeah, Notre Dame is in for a game.

A top four seed that may not make it out of the 1st weekend: Gonzaga

No one TRULY knows how good Gonzaga really is. They’ve looked good all season, but not everyone is sold.

Those feelings won’t subside unless the Bulldogs can make it out of the first weekend. Which means they have most likely beaten a rugged Pittsburgh team in the round of 32.

A team other than Gonzaga that can win the region: Wisconsin

Things are set up nicely for Wisconsin to have a great chance to win this region. If they can get past a possible matchup with Kansas St. in the round of 32, the Badgers would have a good chance to meet Ohio State in the Regional Final.

Who we’re taking in the round of 64:

  • Gonzaga over Southern
  • Pittsburgh over Wichita St.
  • Wisconsin over Mississippi
  • Kansas St. over La Salle
  • Arizona over Belmont
  • New Mexico over Harvard
  • Iowa St. over Notre Dame
  • Ohio St. over Iona

Who we’re taking in the round of 32:

  • Pittsburgh over Gonzaga
  • Wisconsin over Kansas St.
  • New Mexico over Arizona
  • Ohio St. over Iowa St.

Sweet Sixteen winners:

  • Wisconsin over Pittsburgh
  • Ohio St. over New Mexico

Regional Champion:

  • Ohio St.
