In the midst of everything that went wrong for the Jets this season, Rex Ryan seems to not have a care in the world. He‘s vacationing in the Bahamas, showing off his weird Mark Sanchez tattoo, and basically behaving like a man that has the ultimate job security.
Well according to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York, Ryan actually has job security for at least the upcoming season.
The word on the street is that the Jets are telling potential candidates they won’t be considered unless they agree to keep Rex Ryan for a year.
The Jets are trying to lure names like former Browns GM Tom Heckert, 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble and Packers director of football operations John Dorsey. But will any of these guys want to go into the mess in New York without the opportunity of bringing in their own quarterback?
Tom Heckert has already pulled his name from consideration, though he contends that it was due to the Jets cap issues and not a problem with Ryan.
