Ol’ Brent Musburger has once again let his mouth put him in a situation where people can question him. During the BCS National Championship Game, Musburger fell in love with AJ McCarron’s girlfriend Katherine Webb live on national television. That prompted ESPN to apologize on Musburger’s behalf and give him a little slap on the wrist.
But last night Musburger ended ESPN’s broadcast of last night’s game between Baylor and Kansas with a statement that had the word “smoking” in the same sentence as ESPN’s Holly Rowe.
The statement in whole went something like this:
For Fran Fraschilla and Holly Rowe, who was really smoking [inaudible] tonight, I want to say so long from Lawrence
Some say that the inaudible portion of Musburger’s statement isn’t actually inaudible. Because he basically said Rowe was “smoking tonight”.
But ESPN disagrees and claims that Musburger said Rowe was “smoking it tonight”.
Simply stated: “Brent said the word ‘it.’ We are moving on.”

UPDATE: Many readers have chimed in and believe that Musburger said, “it was really smoking tonight.”
