If you ask BCS officials, Notre Dame is pretty much a lock for a BCS bowl

2007 was the last time that Notre Dame played in a BCS bowl. But with the Fighting Irish sitting at 8-0 and third in the current BCS standings, BCS bowl officials are licking their chops at the thought of Notre Dame and their massive fan base playing in their bowl.

And while Notre Dame fans are hoping for an undefeated season and a chance to play for the National Championship, BCS bowl officials are hoping that the Fighting Irish losses one or even two of their remaining four games because in their mind, they are pretty much a lock to play in a BCS bowl game at the end of the season.

“I tend to think right now, there’s a lot to be played, but I don’t see how they could avoid being in a BCS game somewhere,” Fiesta Bowl executive director Robert Shelton said. “They have four games left. Anything can happen, but they’re looking so strong. Even if they only win two of those, certainly if they win three or four, they will be in a BCS game.”

And why are they a lock? Well, besides being undefeated, they also are very “attractive” to each and every BCS bowl official. And make no mistake, each bowl official wants to see Notre Dame in their respective bowl game.
