Penn State has spent almost $17 million because of Sandusky scandal

According to the AP, Penn State has spent nearly $17 million on legal fees, consultants and public relations firms all because of the Jerry Sandusky scandal that rocked the university.

$10 million of the $16.8 million reports spending went to “seven firms for what Penn State calls internal investigation and crisis communications”. Another $4 million went towards the university’s “legal services and defense”.

Unfortunately for the university, they’re not out of the financial woods yet. Lawsuits from Sandusky’s victims are on the horizon and all indications are that Penn State will be paying millions to settle those.
