Lane Kiffin pulled walk-on’s scholarship to make room for linebacker recently released from jail

If you had forgotten that college football is not so much about college and the kids and much more about football and money, this will serve as a reminder.

USC linebacker Simione Vehikite was released from jail last week after serving a little more than three months for leaving the scene of a car accident. At the time, Vehikite was driving with a .08 percent blood-alcohol level. Vehikite plead no contest to two felony counts and was sentenced to a year in jail.

Upon his release, Vehikite was welcomed back into the USC program by Lane Kiffin and put back on scholarship. Which we have no problem with since we’re all for giving kids a second chance. But his second chance came at the expense of walk-on player Will Andrew who didn’t have his scholarship renewed because of Vehikite being reinstated to the team.

“They’re never granted longer (than a year),” Kiffin said. “He was fortunate to have one for a year.”

Andrew tried to be diplomatic about his predicament.

“Whatever the coaches ask me to do, I’ll do,” Andrew said. “The situation was out of my control.”

College football is a cut-throat business. Kiffin’s job is to put the best team out on the field on Saturday or. And because of that reality, someone who has been busting their tail in practice every day can lose their scholarship to someone who just spent months in jail.

Usc has a sorry excuse for a coach he has wreaked every program he has coached
And usc will be no different

  2. What kind of POS coach does that to a walk-on who’s a respectable citizen and was ALREADY obeying the law. Just goes to show you the guilty get more in life, thanks to crap coaches like LK.

ALL IN THE NAME OF WINS, HUH, KIFFIN. ALL IN THE NAME OF WINS.

  3. USC alumni says:

Kiffin, I back you up many times from all the SEC haters out there but this was a flat out error in judgement. Kids some times need a second chance, but you appear to be punishing another for Vehikite. The correct thing to do would have been to make Vehikite sit a year and prove himself to the University and the community. I lost respect for you as a mentor on this decision. Fight On!

  4. SCHOOLS NEED FOOTBALL MONEY. NOTHING NEW. YES HE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE. WILL IS A GREAT GUY. WALK-ONS SCHOLARSHIPS ARE FOR ONE YEAR ONLY. WILL SAVED ABOUT 50,000 THAT’S A LOT. WHAT THE HE.. MAYBE HE, OR ALL OF US HAVE DONE WORSE STUFF. HE DID PLEAD GUILTY. SO WHOSE SCHOLARSHIP SHOULD THEY PULL. YOU AGREE HE GET’S ANOTHER SHOT. SO WHO LOSES THE SCHOLARSHIP. YOU KNOW YOU FOLKS ARE JUST HATERS WAITING FOR A CHANCE. WEAK , WEAK TO YOU ALL. GET A LIFE OF YOUR OWN. HAPP

    • Yeah, don’t be playa hatin! He wuz only driving while intoxicated and left the scene of an accident. Wuts wrong wid dat? Just cuz this kid is hard working and dedicated himself to the program he loves doesn’t mean a thing. He ain’t talented enough to hold Simione’s jockstrap, and talent is wut you gotta have. Southern Cal is about winning, not class…..putting benjamin’s in the football program, not filling the roster with model football players. Trojan’s need to win a National Championship, whether that is with a roster filled with ex-con’s or not.

Is that sarcastic enough……Lame Kiffin is a piece of garbage. Will, do yourself a favor and walk on to a school who will honor not just a scholarship, but you as a person who shows up.

    • Speak for yourself and don’t include ” WE ” in your CAPITAL RANT . lol .
Sick of good kids being pushed aside for some thug that has a rap sheet just because he can play football . Within 1-2 years , he’ll do it again or something even worse next time .
Hes only there cause lane thinks he can win him ballgames . oh wait , he didn’t ! lol .

  5. USC = University of South Central (LA)
Sleazy area. Sleazy players and coaches

  6. Roger Hefflin says:

Kiffin, the great ass-clown. Second only to Obama…of course!

  7. Don’t blame the homey. He was probably able to bring back some good drug contacts for the rest of the USC homeys.

    • The ” homey ” ? sounds like an ” insane clown possey ” song . Man , this aint somewhere 12yo’s hang discussing your ncaa drug fantasies , it’s a place where so called ” adult’s ” can comment on the BS in the football world .
Is this kid a friend of yours ? Maybe one day a forum will have a grown up section where
the big boys can talk away from the kiddies . No offence . Maybe im just getting older and growing up abit myself .

  8. Nice example of college football

  9. Just show you what a POS lane Suckin is . We here in Knoxville Tennessee are so happy
on your performance on Saturday . Worst of luck in the future scumbag . And I completely agree with RONBO . Tennessee , un like usc , plays affair game with a coach with integrity . Does lane even know what that is . He SHOULD NOT be allowed to coach .
Trouble follows him and at the cost of these kids life’s . lane is not a molder of men , he is dystroyer of kids . Im surprised he didn’t learn under Sandusky .

  10. Kiffin’s incompetent and he wouldn’t be around a football field without his daddy’s influence. He’ll run the USC program into the ground. He’s always had talented players and hasn’t been able to consistently win.
