Former LSU defensive back Tyrann Mathieu has entered drug rehab in Houston according to Fox 8. Mathieu has been in rehab since Monday. Thought to be contemplating which university he would play football at this season, Mathieu and his family has decided that he will remain in rehab for the near future and will not play football this season.
Mathieu reportedly wanted to stay at LSU for the chance to rejoin the football team next season, but LSU shot down any possibility of that ever happening. Mathieu’s father Tyrone Mathieu told Fox 8 that “until he conquers his demons, he won’t be successful at his future endeavors, wherever they unfold.”
Mathieu is currently at the Right Step recovery center and being mentored by former NBA star John Lucas.
