Melky Cabrera was in the middle of a superb season where he was hitting .346 with 11 homers and 60 RBIs. And let’s not forget that he was named MVP of the All-Star Game. But his season came to an end earlier today as he was suspended 50 games after testing positive for testosterone.
Cabrera was asked earlier this year by CSN Bay Area if he had failed a drug test and he denied it. The denial led to the reporter writing an apology to Cabrera.
Here’s Cabrera’s statement regarding his suspension:
”My positive test was the result of my use of a substance I should not have used. I accept my suspension under the Joint Drug Program and will try to move on with my life. I am deeply sorry for my mistake and I apologize to my teammates, to the San Francisco Giants organization and to the fans for letting them down.”
