Seattle Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez pitched the first perfect game and fourth no-hitter in Mariners history in a 1-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Hernandez struck out 12 batters and now has a record of 11-5 with a 2.60 ERA.
After the game Hernandez spoke about when he realized that he had a chance for a perfect game.
“I realized in the third or the fourth,” Hernandez said on the field after the game. “It was in my mind the whole game. I was like, ‘Come on, you gotta do it. You gotta do it. When I came out in the ninth, I was a bit nervous.”
