Hours later Johnson responded with his own statement regarding the incident:
“I am going to let the legal process run its course. I wish Evelyn nothing but the best, I have no negative words to say about her, the only thing I can say is I love her very much.
I will continue to be positive and stay training hard for another opportunity in the NFL.
I appreciate all my fans and supporters and if I have disappointed you in any way, you have my sincerest apologies. Once again I will continue to stay positive and appreciate all the support during this tough period in my life.”
Now comes the circus aspect that we all knew was coming. According to Radar Online, a woman from Boston named Beverly Shiner (pictured to the left) claims to have dated Johnson while he was engaged to Lazado.
Shiner claims the two began talking to each other on Twitter via direct message. Johnson invited Shiner out to dinner and it was on from there.
“I Googled him before we met and saw he was engaged, but at the time there were reports that she had broken it off because she thought he was cheating, so I assumed they had split up,” she told Radar.
But when she got over to his Foxborough, Massachusetts, home she found women’s toiletries in the bathroom and realized they were clearly still very much a couple.
“While I was there he called Evelyn and asked if she could order a pizza to be delivered for him, and even had her pay for it on her credit card,” Shiner told Radar. “I thought it was odd and wondered if she was really his fiancee or just a secretary.”
Mother-of-two Shiner revealed that despite her initial suspicions she still slept with Chad that fateful night in January, and alleges she went on to have a relationship that lasted over three months.
“When he was at the Super Bowl (on February 5) in Indianapolis, he was texting me and saying he was missed me,” she confessed, even though Evelyn was at the big game with him along with his children.
The floodgates have just been opened.
