The 2012 NBA free agency signing period is off and running. The first week has been filled with eye opening trades and jaw dropping offer sheets. Things are sure to heat up on July 11 as teams can then begin to match offer sheets that their free agents have signed with other teams.

As we move into that phase, we’ll keep you up to date on all the signings and trades of each team as they happen.

Atlanta Hawks

Danny Ferry was hired as the Hawks new GM and immediately shook up the organization.

  • Traded Joe Johnson to the Brooklyn Nets for Anthony Morrow, Jordan Williams, Jordan Famar, Johan Petro, DeShawn Stevenson, & 2013 first round pick.
  • Traded Marvin Williams to the Utah Jazz for Devin Harris.
  • Signed Philadelphia’s Lou Williams to a multi-year contract.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics have been busy during the free agent period.

  • Re-signed Kevin Garnett to a 2-year deal.
  • Signed Dallas’ Jason Terry to a 3-year deal.
  • Re-signed Brandon Bass to a 3-year deal.
  • Re-signed Jeff Green to a 4-year deal.

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets are making a splash going into their first season in Brooklyn.

  • Re-signed Deron Williams to a 5-year contract.
  • Re-signed Gerald Wallace to a 4-year contract.
  • Traded for Atlanta’s Joe Johnson.
  • Signed the Clippers’ Reggie Evans to a 3-year contract.
  • Signed Atlanta’s Jerry Stackhouse to a one-year contract.
  • Re-signed Brook Lopez to a 4-year contract.

Charlotte Bobcats

No free agency activity as of yet.

Chicago Bulls

The Bulls begin bolstering their roster to help soften the blow of not having Derrick Rose.

  • Signed Atlanta’s Kirk Hinrich to a 2-year contract.

Cleveland Cavaliers

No free agency activity as of yet.

Dallas Mavericks

Safe to say that free agency has been disappointing for the Mavs.

  • Signed New Orleans’ Chris Kaman to a one-year contract.

Denver Nuggets

Rudy Fernandez has opted to play in Spain, now the Nuggets have to decide if they want to bring JaVale McGee back.

  • Re-signed Andre Miller to a 3-year contract.

Detroit Pistons

No free agency activity as of yet.

Golden State Warriors

No free agency activity as of yet.

Houston Rockets

The Rockets are doing something, we just not sure what.

  • Signed Chicago’s Omer Asik to an offer sheet. Bulls can match the offer.
  • Signed New York’s Jeremy Lin to an offer sheet. Knicks can match the offer.
  • Traded Kyle Lowery to the Toronto Raptors for Gary Forbes and a future first round pick.
  • Traded Marcus Camby to the New York Knicks for Toney Douglas, Josh Harrelson, Jerome Jordan, and future second round picks.

Indiana Pacers

With Roy Hibbert back in the fold, Pacers fans should be ecstatic.

  • Re-signed George Hill to a 5-year contract.
  • Re-signed Roy Hibbert to a 4-year contract.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers have made significant upgrades during the early free agency period.

  • Re-signed Chauncey Billups to a one-year contract.
  • Signed Portland’s Jamal Crawford to a 3-year contract.
  • Traded for Dallas’ Lamar Odom in a four team trade that sent Mo Williams to the Utah Jazz.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers have arguably made the best move during free agency thus far.

  • Traded for Phoenix’s Steve Nash

Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis’ aim was to re-sign their young talent and that’s exactly what they did.

  • Re-signed Darrell Arthur to a 3-year contract.
  • Re-signed Marreese Speights to a 2-year contract.
  • Signed Toronto’s Jerryd Bayless to a 2-year contract.

Miami Heat

Miami’s plan was to hopefully sign Ray Allen and their plan came to fruition.

  • Signed Boston’s Ray Allen to a 3-year contract.
  • Signed New Orleans’ Rashard Lewis to a two-year contract.

Milwaukee Bucks

Milwaukee went ahead and extended Ersan Ilyasova just to get in on the action.

  • Re-signed Ersan Ilyasova to a 5-year contract.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota lost Michael Beasley to the Suns, but they’ve worked to upgrade their team.

  • Signed Portland’s Nicolas Batum to an offer sheet. Trailblazers can match the offer.
  • Signed previously retired Brandon Roy to a 2-year contract.

New Orleans Hornets

The Hornets begin to add talent around #1 pick Anthony Davis

  • Traded for Orlando’s Ryan Anderson.

New York Knicks

The Knicks struck out on Steve Nash but they were able snag away Jason Kidd.

  • Signed Dallas’ Jason Kidd to a 3-year contract.
  • Signed James White to a one-year contract.
  • Traded for Houston’s Marcus Camby.
  • Re-signed Steve Novak to a 4-year contract.
  • Re-signed J.R. Smith to a 2-year contract.

Oklahoma City Thunder

No free agency activity as of yet.

Orlando Magic

The Magic’s sole focus is getting the best trade they can find for Dwight Howard.

  • Re-signed Jameer Nelson to a 3-year contract.
  • Traded Ryan Anderson to New Orleans for Gustavo Ayon

Philadelphia 76ers

The Sixers are beginning to make a few moves in free agency.

  • Re-signed Spencer Hawes to a 2-year contract.
  • Signed the Clippers’ Nick Young to a one-year contract.
  • Released Elton Brand under the NBA’s amnesty clause.
  • Re-signed Lavoy Allen to a 3-year contract.

Phoenix Suns

The Suns lost Steve Nash but are in hot pursuit of Eric Gordon.

  • Signed New Orleans’ Eric Gordon to an offer sheet. Hornets can match the offer.
  • Signed Minnesota’s Michael Beasley to a 3-year contract.
  • Signed Houston’s Goran Dragic to a 4-year contract.

Portland Trailblazers

The Trailblazers made an immediate splash in free agency by signing Roy Hibbert to an offer sheet

  • Signed Indiana’s Roy Hibbert to an offer sheet. Pacers can match the offer. Pacers matched the offer.

Sacramento Kings

No free agency activity as of yet.

San Antonio Spurs

As usual, the Spurs have quietly re-signed their free agents.

  • Re-signed Tim Duncan to a 3-year contract.
  • Re-signed Boris Diaw to a 2-year contract.
  • Re-signed Danny Green to a 3-year contract.

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors also struck out on Steve Nash but have still been busy in free agency.

  • Signed New York’s Landry Fields to an offer sheet. Knicks can match the offer.
  • Traded Gary Forbes and a future first round pick to the Houston Rockets for Kyle Lowery .

Utah Jazz

Other than trading Devin Harris, the Jazz have been quiet thus far.

  • Traded Devin Harris to the Atlanta Hawks for Marvin Williams.

Washington Wizard

No free agency activity as of yet.
