New Orleans Hornets win NBA draft lottery, will draft Anthony Davis

New owner Tom Benson and head coach Monty Williams are celebrating tonight after winning the NBA draft lottery and the right to draft Kentucky big man Anthony Davis. The Hornets had just a 13.7 percent chance of landing the #1 pick, but they won and that’s all that matters.

Two teams that are not celebrating tonight are the Charlotte Bobcats and Brooklyn Nets. The Bobcats obviously needed Anthony Davis in the worst way and since they didn’t get him, they’ll be contending for the #1 pick again next season. As for the Nets, since their pick did not fall in the top 3, they lost it to the Portland Trailblazers leaving them without a pick in the lottery.

Here is the full draft order:

1. New Orleans
2. Charlotte Bobcats
3. Washington Wizards
4. Cleveland Cavaliers
5. Sacramento Kings
6. Portland Trail Blazers (via Nets)
7. Golden State Warriors
8. Toronto Raptors
9. Detroit Pistons
10. New Orleans Hornets (via Minnesota)
11. Portland Trail Blazers
12. Milwaukee Bucks
13. Phoenix Suns
14. Houston Rockets
