Hot Stuff ointment ended up on Steven Strasburg where it shouldn’t have ended up on Steven Strasburg

Steven Strasburg had a rough outing in yesterday game against the Padres. Not only did he give up four runs in just four innings, he had an excruciating battle with Hot Stuff ointment.

Apparently, Strasburg applied the ointment before he went out for his start to loosen up his body. But before he knew, the ointment somehow ended up on a part of his body that it wasn’t intended for. And from there Strasburg had to endure four long innings of a burning, well, you get the idea.

“I can’t really tell you what the problem was, but some Hot Stuff got misplaced,” Johnson said. “It was on his shoulder and evidently – I don’t know how it got to where it got, but it was uncomfortable, to say the least.”

Players found it plausible that the ointment had found the wrong place by accident. Some pitchers will use the Hot Stuff to prepare for a start and get their blood flowing. It is possible the rain and wet conditions caused the ointment to move to the wrong part of Strasburg’s body.

Strasburg, who seemed miffed Johnson had brought up the incident, didn’t address what had gone wrong.

“Yeah, you know, I’m going to keep that in the clubhouse,” Strasburg said.

We’re sure we don’t need to add much more to this. We’re all already in enough pain just thinking about this.
