Audio of Gregg Williams’ speech instructing Saints players to injure 49ers players has surfaced

Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports dropped another bomb on the Bountygate scandal when he reported last night that Gregg Williams instructed Saints players to injure 49ers players before their NFC divisional round game.

Documentary filmmaker Sean Pamphilon was present during the speech and revealed to Silver that Williams “made specific references to inflicting physical punishment upon several San Francisco 49ers”, “at one point made a hand signal suggesting he would personally pay for a ferocious shot on 49ers quarterback Alex Smith”, and “also referenced the prospect of his players inflicting a severe knee injury upon San Francisco wideout Michael Crabtree and exhorted them to “put a lick on” backup receiver Kyle Williams in an effort to “find out” if he was still suffering from the effects of a late-December concussion.”

Those words alone are pretty damaging, but the audio that accompanies those words are probably the most damaging.

It was tough to see any scenario where Goodell would invite Williams back into the NFL to coach again before we heard this audio. Now that we have, there’s no way Goodell lets him back in.
