Rex Ryan took time out earlier this week to reiterate that Mark Sanchez is definitely the starting quarterback for the New York Jets.
That sounds all well and good, but we all know that at some point, Sanchez is going to lose the starting job to Tim Tebow. Not because Tim Tebow is so good, but because at times Mark Sanchez is so bad.
So we went ahead and took the liberty of pinpointing exactly which week we expect Sanchez to lose the job. And now, it won’t come as a surprise to you when it happens.
Week 1 vs. Bills
Sanchez will be safe after this week. He’ll have a so-so game and the Jets may even win. And there’s no way they would pull the plug after one game.
Week 2 @ Steelers
This one could be rough for ol’ Sanchize. But even with a poor outing, he should live to see another week.
Week 3 @ Dolphins
Second week on the road and facing a pretty good defense. For Sanchez’s sake, the Jets need to be at worst 2-1 after this game. If they are 1-2 or 0-3, it may be the beginning of the end for Sanchez.
Week4 vs. 49ers
Ouch. The defensive opponent just went from pretty good to great. And though we have yet to find a guaranteed W on the schedule, we’ll say Sanchez keeps his job for another week.
Week 5 vs. Texans
Sanchez should probably lose his job here, but I don’t think the Jets have the balls to pull the trigger this early in the season.
Week6 vs. Colts
Sanchez plays well this week, by default, and holds off the wolves just long enough to……
Week 7 @ Patriots
Implode against the Patriots and get pulled in favor of Tebow.
So we have week 7 as the week that Mark Sanchez loses his job. But it wouldn’t surprise us in the least bit if it happened as early as week 5.
