All up in your brackets: NCAA Tournament 2012 East Region

Time to talk about the East region.

Shall we?

The team that is primed to pull off the first round upset: West Virginia

We think West Virginia’s style of play will give Gonzaga problems. Whenever faced with teams that play a similar grind it out style (Michigan State, Saint Mary’s), the Bulldogs have struggled. We think this is the key to the game.

A top seed that may not make it out of the 1st weekend: Syracuse

We’re just not that impressed with the Orangemen. Yes, they’re a battle tested team. And yes, they’ve won many of those battles. Yet, we can definitely see them falling to the likes of Kansas State.

A team other than Syracuse that can win the region: Florida State

We can’t even begin to explain the joy we feel to be able to write this and actually mean it. Yes, this can be viewed as a homer pick since we are graduates of Florida State, but it’s really not. If the Noles continue to play the way they’ve been playing, there is no reason they can’t win this region. But there’s always the chance that they revert to the turnover, offensive drought machines that we’re all used to.

Who we’re taking in the 1st round: Syracuse, Kansas State, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Florida State, West Virginia, Ohio State

Who we’re taking in round 2: Kansas State, Vanderbilt, Florida State, Ohio State

Sweet Sixteen winners: Vanderbilt, Florida State

Regional Champion: Florida State
