Josh Beckett doesn’t care for those clubhouse snitches

This whole brouhaha about new Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine banning beer in the clubhouse and old Red Sox manager Terry Francona calling it a PR move was put in motion with a report that center around Josh Beckett drinking in the Red Sox clubhouse. The fallout from that and other things led to Bobby Valentine becoming the new Red Sox manager and Terry Francona becoming the old Red Sox manager.

As for Beckett, he’s been pretty quiet throughout the fallout. But now that spring training is upon us, Beckett decided to speak on the situation. Or more importantly, the “snitches” that were in the Red Sox clubhouse last season.

“Somebody made that stuff up, just like somebody made up that we were doing stuff … This is stupid. I don’t understand what the big deal is. Somebody was trying to save their own ass, and it probably cost a lot of people their asses. The snitching [expletive], that’s [expletive]. It’s not good.

“There’s two things with the clubhouse thing that I have a problem with: If I’m going to say something about the clubhouse, my name is going to be on it. The second thing is you never want to be remembered as that guy because that will follow wherever you go. It’s just mind-boggling to me.”

You heard the man. Stop snitching snitches.
