There’s nothing like anonymous quotes to shed light on how players feel about a certain situation or player. And there’s definitely nothing like anonymous quotes from New York Mets players. Because frankly, we were all on pins and needles waiting for the opinions of anonymous Mets players.
But now the wait is over and the opinions of several anonymous Mets players about Ryan Braun winning his 50 game suspension appeal have been made public. And as you may have guessed, they don’t believe a word Ryan Braun said today in his “See, told you I was innocent” press conference.
“Ryan Braun is out there saying this shows he is innocent,” one Met said. “Does that mean O.J. Simpson is innocent, too?”
No need to bring O.J. into this, man.
“Oh, wow,” a Mets player said on Friday, after hearing of Braun’s chain-of-custody explanation. “That was his defense? Now every positive test is going to be challenged. That could be a mess.”
Positive tests will be challenged, but no one else will pull off what Braun was able to. MLB won’t let this happen again.
Added a third player: “What a joke.”
Another Met said: “Seems like he’s guilty.”
Ah, come on. There has to be one player that willing to go on the record with their opinion. Oh, hello David Wright.
“You’re glad that the process worked,” Wright said. “That’s why we have that process in place.”
Well, you certainly just wasted our time, David Wright.
