Report: West Virginia Buying Out Bill Stewart

With rumors swirling around the West Virginia program that Bill Stewart and or his wife Karen leaked unflattering information about head coach-in-waiting Dana Holgorsen, it seems that the university has decided to side with Holgorsen. According to the Sporting News, West Virginia will reportedly buyout Bill Stewart’s contract and Dana Holgorsen will take over the program.

West Virginia is negotiating a buyout for coach Bill Stewart, a source close to the situation told Sporting News on Thursday.

The only holdup in the negotiations is the buyout money. Coach-in-waiting Dana Holgorsen will take over as head coach.

When asked Thursday if he was planning a buyout for Stewart, WVU athletic director Oliver Luck said, “I can’t comment” in a text to Sporting News.

The move could be complete as soon as Friday morning.

Loose lips has sunken the Bill Stewart ship.

I congratulate AD Oliver Luck for negotiating the dismissal of Bill Stewart in a timely manner. Anyone who maliciously interferes with the employment contract of another employee must be terminated for cause. As a former elected student representative on the WVU Athletic Council, I wholeheartedly concur with this decision.
