Bobby Petrino Still Can’t Believe That Terrelle Pryor And Company Were Eligible To Play In The Sugar Bowl

Now that Jim Tressel has resigned, coaches are lining up to give their opinions on the matter. During the SEC meetings down in Florida, Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino was asked his opinion. Namely, how he felt when the NCAA permitted those five Ohio State players to play in the Sugar Bowl.

I’m sure you can guess his response.

“There’s no question that I don’t understand how they were eligible to play in the game,” Petrino said during the annual SEC spring meetings in Destin, Fla., Tuesday. “I just don’t, and I never will.”

He also added this:

“They [the NCAA] kind of changed the rules for that bowl game,” Petrino said.

Even though Petrino was upset with the NCAA’s ruling regarding the Sugar Bowl, he did say he felt sorry for Tressel.

“When something like that happens you never like to see it,” he said. “I feel for him, his family. It affects a lot of other people in the state and the university, so you feel for all those people.”
