Jim Buss Admits That He Should Have Brought Kobe Bryant In On The Coaching Decision

[text-box]When the news broke that the Lakers had hired Mike Brown as their new coach, Kobe Bryant was reportedly “surprised” by the hire. Mainly because he was unaware that the Lakers even had interest in Brown. Whether or not you believe that Bryant should have been in the loop about coaching candidates, Lakers VP Jim Buss admits that Bryant should have been brought into the discussions about the impending hire. “Looking back on it, we should have contacted Kobe,” Buss says. “Kobe said it was management’s job to pick a coach. He just said, ‘Defense first.’ That’s what we were doing, but we should have reached out to him.”
