Knicks fans were finally able to cheer some semblance of NBA team this season as Amar’e Stoudemire, and later Carmelo Anthony, led the Knicks to their first playoff appearance in an eternity. Having tasted the playoffs, Knicks fans have now turned their attention to trying to catapult one of their own into the MVP discussion. And how do fans do that in the NBA? By chanting M-V-P whenever they get the chance, of course.
For Knicks fans, the “whenever they get the chance” part means that you strike up the chant while their candidate that doesn’t deserve the honor, being Amar’e Stoudamire, is out eating lunch.
Amar’e Stoudemire may have exited early from the playoffs, but he got a hero’s welcome at Fred’s at Barneys yesterday. According to sources, diners at the Upper East Side power spot began clapping when they spotted the New York Knick arriving for lunch with his girlfriend, Ciara. One fan even began chanting, “MVP, MVP,” and the rest of the dining room followed suit.
Oh those looney Knicks fans.
