Thiago Silva finally received his punishment after admitting that he used a fake urine sample before his fight at UFC 125. The Nevada state athletic commission has suspended Silva for one year and also fined him $33,750. Silva showed up to the hearing Thursday without a lawyer and ready to take the blame for what he did. Silva told the commission that he did this out of desperation because he needed to earn money for his family because he was “completely broke.” His unanimous decision over Brandon Vera has now been changed to a no contest. Sliva’s suspension will last until Jan 2, 2012.
