The Big Ten decided to air a special presentation, in the middle of your Monday, to unveil their new and improved logo and the new two division format. And this is what it amounted to:
I see that you are confused, so let me explain. At the top there is the new logo. And do you see those two just below that? The words, “Legends” and “Leaders”? Those are the name of the two conferences. You know, like SEC East and West. Yeah, they went with Big Ten Legends and Leaders. Don’t ask me why, but they did.
Big Ten commish James Delaney knows why, I guess, not that it makes any sense, but we’ll give him the floor nonetheless.
“‘Legends’ is a nod to our history and to the people associated with our schools who are widely recognized as legends – student-athletes, coaches, alumni and faculty. ‘Leaders’ looks to the future as we remain committed to fostering leaders, the student-athletes who are encouraged to lead in their own way for the rest of their lives, in their families, in their communities and in their chosen professions,” said Delany. “We’re proud of our many legends and even prouder of our member institutions that develop future leaders every day.”
