Every once and a while, whether we admit it or not, we support the notion that most athletes are self-serving narcissists who could care less about anyone or anything other than their own best interest.
That statement can be debated, but the American concept and law ‘innocent until proven guilty’ cannot.
So why is Cam Newton being crucified over pure speculation?
The 21-year-old QB for Auburn and his father, Cecil, are allegedly guilty of seeking money ,180K, from Mississippi State University in exchange for Cam’s services.
Along with the recent release of news about Newton’s cheating scandal at the University of Florida in 2008, this scandal has promptly presented itself in the midst of Auburn’s undefeated season, 11-0, and Newton’s race to the Heisman.
My only question. Where was Bill Bell and all the other recruiters, coaches, agents last year when Cam Newton was at Blinn College?
Did he and his father actually do some wrong, or is this an attempt to destroy a young man’s reputation and career because he’s having immense success at Auburn and not at the naysayers Alma mater’s?
Regardless of the accusations, Cam Newton is still, by far, the best player in college football. Let this young man win a Heisman Trophy and possibly a BCS Title in peace.
