You don’t have to be from Jacksonville, as I am, to realize that Jacksonville isn’t overly concerned with supporting their Jaguars. All you have to do is take note of the empty stadium and the multiple blackouts the team has had over the years. So the term “die hard fans” is rarely used when discussing the folks in Jacksonville. This is one of those rare occasions.
Meet Kim Nored. She is the closest thing to a “die hard fan” that Jacksonville has. Nored isn’t a die hard fan because she loves her Jaguars. Oh no. She a die hard fan because she, for some reason, wants the signatures of Jaguars past and present on her arms.
[Kim] Nored, who is 29 and a college student, has 18 signatures tattooed on her arms — but only above her elbows. She wants her arms to be office-appropriate. The signatures are mostly from players, but she also has coach Jack Del Rio, Jaxson de Ville and Jaguars great Tony Boselli.
Look-a-there. She’s a die hard fan and a professional. Single men, mount up.
She has the Jaguars’ biggest stars, such as tight end Marcedes Lewis and quarterback David Garrard. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew and cornerback Rashean Mathis were the last two to sign her arm during training camp.
She’s saving a spot on one shoulder for Fred Taylor.
But her arms aren’t reserved for big shots.
Nored also has safety Reggie Nelson, whom the Jaguars traded away in September, defensive lineman Atiyyah Ellison, tight end Ernest Wilford, who was cut this year, and former reserve linebacker Thomas Williams.
“It breaks my heart that they’re not on the team anymore,” Nored said. “But it doesn’t bother me that I got the tattoos.”
And you thought you were a die hard fan. Pfft.
